Biopsy from Colonoscopy

Hello Everyone,

I had a colonoscopy last Thursday and they took six biopsies during the procedure. Before I left the hospital I asked why the biopsies were taken and the nurse told me it is just something they do (?!) and she had no idea how long it would be before I heard back but that I would have to go into the hospital for the results. Does anyone have a rough idea of how long it will be before I hear anything? I'm trying my best to think positive and keep it to the back of my mind but not have a timescale to focus on is making it hard!

Thank you in advance and take care

  • Hello Starlet

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with these health concerns at the moment.

From the posts I've read here over the years, it's not uncommon for people to have biopsies taken during a colonoscopy.

It's understandable that you're feeling concerned, particularly as you have no idea how long you might have to wait for news. You could try ringing the secretary for your Consultant to ask for more information on when you will have a follow up from your procedure.

I hope that you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi I myself had a colonoscopy two weeks yesterday I was told it looked ok but they took four biopsies then on Tuesday I got a letter saying I had to go for a ct scan now I'm assuming they've found cancer I can't cope
