Blood test results

Dear all,

I am being checked at the moment to rule out bowel cancer. Had all the worrying symptoms and my mum was 37 when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

I just had a telephone consultation with my GP who was shocked I hadn't had my scan appointment through as she said I should have had it within 2 weeks of her referral so she's chasing that.
She said my bloods were ok apart from my CRP which was 19 and she would repeat the bloods in 2 weeks to check this.
I know the elevated CRP can be for a number of reasons and could be that I recently had n infection without knowing.

I just wondered if anyone had any similar experiences?  The doctor said although this result is elevated it's not panic stations requiring immediate investigation so I am not worried but it's just the waiting and now it'll be another 2 weeks before I know if there's any change.

Thanks in advance

ps I tried to post this is 'waiting for a diagnosis' but it didn't show this option

  • Hi, Sorry to hear you have been feeling unwell. Do you mind me asking what symptons you have had? xx

  • Hello, thank you for your reply. Yes of course, I've been having bright red blood on toilet paper after a bowel movement, not all the time, for a few months now. Unintentional weight loss, extreme fatigue, change in bowel habits and tender tummy. Doctor did a digital rectal exam and found no evidence of piles, which is what I was hoping. She felt my tummy and can feel a mass of some description, exactly where it's tender. She said it could just be I have an extra large uterus (I've had 3 children so definitely a possibility!!) but given my symptoms and family history it needs investigating x

  • Hey was wondering how your’re doing? Did they give you a colonoscopy?
