Chronic throat pain

Hello,

I'm new here. I am 19 and have been suffering with severe throat pain, ear aches, difficulties swallowing and tightness of the throat/neck as if I can't breathe very well. I am feeling so tired and run down all the time. The pain feels like it's located near my thyroid but doctors have said my thyroid level is all absolutely fine. This has all been going on since March 2019. I do appreciate how hard the NHS has been working but I feel as though ENT are not taking me seriously and like most doctors don't care because I'm too young to be having any health problems like I'm suffering with. I can't live like this anymore not knowing what is wrong with me and not being able to enjoy life or work to the best of my ability. Last October I had an ENT appointment and they looked down my throat with the camera. He said all was fine she a little red (he didn't really care) despite crying in agony. I've been told it might be acid reflux taken every you can imagine and nothing has worked. I also do not have any symptoms that present this.  Today I had my 2nd appointment that I've been waiting for since last December. For him to just do the exact same test and told me I had to wait 7 months for an MRI. still again cried for answers as I'm so desperate to feel normal again. I cannot wait 7 months it's already been nearly two years. My question is what do I do? Has anyone experienced this before? I'm begging for help and answers. My doctor prescribed me codeine a few months back to help with the pain but unfortunately my body has now become immune to them same with paracetamol.

  • Are you still suffering with these problems? I'm in the exact same boat. I've had sore throat (only left side) and ear pain again left side only. I'm having trouble swallowing food now I feel like I have somthing stuck in my throat!
I've had 2 cameras down nose both times nothing was found. I also had a procedure done while I was asleep where they looked in more detail, again nothing found. And I've had a mri again with nothing found....

ive had this now for 14 months, no explanation and multiple medications tried. Still nothing, I'm still in pain and still in the same position I was in last year it's very frustrating. Would love to hear If anything changed for you?

  • I am unfortunately doctors don't seem to be fussed anymore and I'm kinda getting the feeling that they think I'm lying about it all. I'm in chronic pain day in day out. It's stops me from doing everything. You are describing the exact same as what I am going through. The pain is unreal and so uncomfortable. Have they suggested anything else or have you got anymore appointments to find out the problem? I've had 2 cameras and an MRI. MRI came back clear and that was the last thing I have heard from the doctors or hospital. They aren't bothered to do anything else to help.

  • Yeah that's the exact same as me. No the dr I'm in contact with at the moment is on holiday for 2 weeks, they said that I had possible jaw problems and fitted me with a brace to wear at night but it literally has made no difference. I'm on amotryptalin to help with the pain and I take codine every night (can't take them during the day as I need to drive) after eating things like crisp or bread or potato ect I feel like it's getting stuck, I have to drink while I'm eating now. I don't know what else to do. The go suggested a mri on my brain but again he won't be back in surgery till 22nd of April and I'm not dealing with anyone else as like you said I've had the whole "its all your head" comments.

im totally fed up and it's ruined the last year of my life (not that it's actually been any good but still)

wheb was the last time you spoke to your dr? I always make sure I make them aware I'm still in pain I've even complained a couple times because I'm just shrugged off.

  • How are u doing now are u any better? Having the same problems
