lump checked 3 weeks after stopped breastfeeding

Hello,

 

I have just been for my postnatal check up and mentioned a small lump that's still there despite stopping breastfeeding 3 weeks ago. The doctor has referred me to the breast clinic for an ultrasound to be safe but I am freaking out. I had mastitis whilst bf and was hoping she'd say it was residual from bf but she wants to check the lump. I know it's best to be checked but has anyone had a similar experience?

    Hi Laura

    I'm new here and also waiting for a breast clinic referral over a lump. I've been once before though and it sounds very similar to what you have described.

    I tried and failed to express after I'd had my daughter and developed a lump. I was terrified. It turned out to be a fluid filled cyst that was drained in the breast clinic the same day. There's probably a proper name for it !! 

    I'm hoping it's a similar issue this time although I've not had a baby recently!

    Thank you so much for replying, I really hope that's the case. Such a worrying wait. I hope all is ok with your check too. It's all such a worry x
