Waiting for an appointment but worried....

Hi all,

Thanks for taking the time to read this......sorry if it's a bit of a ramble.....not really sure where I am at.

I've had referrals for breast problems twice previously.  Both times they have said they are cysts which is great however last time (2 years ago nearly) the specialist who saw me after the ultrasound checked me over and found a lump that was different to the others and was attached to the chest wall on my right hand side near to the armpit.  I was having stabbing pains in my armpit and have been having them for a while.  She said she wasn't sure about it so went out to have a chat.  She came back and said that they've said they are sure I just have cysts and that I need to keep an eye on it and come straight back if it changes.  I'll be honest I was struggling to feel it and am not sure I even know where it is.

Now I have a swollen thyroid gland (visible), swollen lymph node and ear ache.  Also I have a weird little cough.....it's not all day but I get it everyday.  I have had it for a while and the lumps etc definitely have been longer than 2 months.  The cough feels a little like a little tickle in my chest....nothing major.  I have pain in my chest/shoulder that comes and goes but I've put that down to spine problems that I have.  I still have the pain in the armpit.  All of these things are on the right hand side of my body and not the left.

I'm feeling tired but then I am a bit fed up right now so it could just be that.  I'm not losing any weight. Weirdly last week I developed sore patches (not ulcers) in the right hand side of my mouth and the underneath of my tongue was sore but also numb....really odd!

Today I had the Thyroid function test results back and my Thyroid is functioning fine.  The ultrasound appointment my GP requested has been refused but I am waiting on a referral to the one stop thyroid clinic but I have no idea when that will happen.

I am sure it's all nothing serious and I'm trying to be positive but it's all just a bit weird and I just don't feel well.  I'm only 40 but feel old right now. I just wondered if anyone had had these weird symptoms before?

Thanks all :)

  • Welcome to the forum Sassquatch although I'm sorry about the symptoms you're contending with at the moment. It must be very annoying not knowing what is causing them but fingers crossed you'll get some answers when you go to the thyroid clinic.

Hopefully some of our members who have experienced similar will get back to you soon but I hope writing everything down helped and you start feeling better soon.

    All the best,

  • Thank you for your reply Steph.  I am still waiting to hear back from the Thyroid Clinic, I'm not sure how long that should take.  I'm still worried.  My earache seems to be worse and my shoulder pain and armpit pain feels worse.  I still have the weird mouth sores and numbness....I was expecting them to go away by now to be honest.

Fingers crossed I'll hear back soon.
