Spotting ever since cervical biopsy

Hello,

I had a smear test on september 2019. When the nurse looked inside, she got concerned and asked another more experienced nurse to have a look too. They told me it looked inflamed and that they'd refer me straight away to the gyno. I was so worried!

The gyno did a coloscopy and said it didnt look like cancer, but it is inflamed and might go away by itself...BUT she needed to take a biopsy anyway because my smear test was inconclusive. The test result was fine. But ever since the biospy, I get spotting almost every single month and it's already been a year since biopsy. It happens especially when I am active or after exercising. I cannot seem to find info online saying that spotting is a common issue for as long as a year! Cervical Erosion might be a possibility I think, but the gyno never mentioned this possibility at the time. I've got an appointment with gyno end of this month and anxious about what they will diagnose me with and hoping hard it's nothing cancerous. Has anyone has had/have spotting ever since their biopsy?

Any advice would be super appreciated!

Thanks!

  • Hello Wonga2019,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your gynaecology appointment. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to be seen and find out more about this.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have also experienced spotting since their biopsy and that they will be along soon to share their experience with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
