They found a lump

Hi,

I have been seen at the breast clinic this afternoon, had a good examination by the nurse who suggested that the pain I have been feeling was probably down to costrochondritis, she couldn't feel any lumps or bumps and was not concerned about the "dent" but as I am 44 said that just to be sure she would send me for a mammogram.

So feeling quite relieved I had my mammogram and waited to be told that I could go home as there was nothing abnormal. To my surprise I was called in to the ultrasound room where the consultant said that they had seen a tiny lump 13mm but not in the place I have been having pain. She said that she doesn't think it's anything nasty but I need a biopsy to be sure. She also mentioned that I have an inflamed lymph node...

I am in total shock, from being told it's nothing to being booked in for a biopsy for next Thursday in a matter of minutes. I am now worried sick it's breast cancer.

Has anyone else had this where they found a lump but it was somewhere different to the initial area you went in to have investigated?

  • I had an ear infection and a cyst.... I'm now awaiting a thyroid biopsy! My thyroid was only scanned as the radiographer said he would

do it as part of checking the lymph nodes (one node was raised due to my infection).

    it's awful isn't it x

  • It's ***, especially when you are not expecting it...

I had already diagnosed and treated myself in the 2 weeks I waited to be seen at the breast clinic, and within 15 minutes of being examined the nurse (who was so lovely) really put my mind at rest. She was even in shock when she saw the results.

Just playing the waiting game now, Thursday for biopsy and then another week after that for the results.

Good luck with your biopsy xxx
