HPV and borderline changes

Hello all

I have Uterus Didelphys which basically means I have 2 of everything including uteri, cervixes and a division down my vagina. Sometime before 2013 I found out that I had this abnormality but still just had the standard single smear test in 2013

In 2013 I just had my usual smear test with my gps nurse. Several weeks later it came back as CIN3 and HPV and in the right hand cervix. I had to have a colposcopy under general anesthetic as that was the only way that it could be done due to having Uterus Didelphys. After several other surgeries which were for LLETZ and cone biopsy, I was given the all clear in 2015.

Since then I have been having yearly smear tests on both cervixes and done by my consultant at my local hospital.

I have also have the contraceptive implant and have had some bleeding but mostly brown discharge on and off for over 3 years now, and I currently have the discharge though my consultant in the past has just put that down to the implant causing problems even after I have a new implant put in. My consultant found that I have fibroids as well so that could be the cause of the brown discharge.

Yesterday I got my smear results back which said the I have HPV and  borderline changes in my left hand cervix and that my consultant has to consult with her colposcopy multidisciplinary team on what they are going to do and she will get back to me soon with what they decide.

I know that it is only borderline changes and I don't want more treatment than necessary but I'm worrying that they wont do anything eventhough this is the second time that I have had changes and I have discharge which might or might not be due to the implant causing problems.

  • Hello Lizzie80 and welcome to our forum,

I hope that you find out soon what they are planning to do. It's good that they are consulting with the colposcopy multidisciplinary team about your borderline changes and I am sure they will decide on what the best course of action will be in your particular circumstances.  They will no doubt take into account the fact that this is the second time you have had these changes and also that you have uterus didelphys.

I hope that you will meet others here who have been in a similar position before and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
