Worried about sister - stomach pain and weight loss

Hi everyone

 

I wasn't planning on posting on here but it looks like a really helpful forum. My sister (65) has been having severe stabbing abdominal pains for 18 months that come and go and recently she's had a episode othat lasted over 24 hours of her crying out in pain. Generally it lasts for a hours and then she's sick and feels better. It doesn't seem to be connected to what she ears. She's also lost weight and has a change in bowel movements-constipated. The GP is unsure what it is and I feel that she needs it investigated further. Has anyone has experience of similar symptoms? It would really help out our mind at rest.

    I'm sorry to hear that your sister has been struggling with some health concerns for the past 18 months. 
    You mention that the GP is unsure what's causing the problem and that you feel further investigations are needed. Is this something that's been discussed with your sister's GP? 
    It may be that others here on the forum have had similar issues but it sounds as if your sister may benefit from some further investigations with a specialist to see if a cause can be found. It may be worth her keeping a diary related to her diet, bowel movements and symptoms which may help a Consultant identify any patterns. 

    I do hope that things improve for her soon.
