Breast clinic and Period

Hi everyone,

I found a lump in my breast a couple of weeks ago and the doctor has referred me to the breast clinic. My appointment is next week and I've just figured out that my period is due on the same day. Does anyone know if this is likely to cause any issues? I know that breasts can become more lumpy naturally then and I just don't want there to be any delay in finding out if its anything serious. I'm 41 years old if that makes any difference.

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a lump and that you're waiting on an appointment at breast clinic.
One of the questions that you'll be asked is when your last cycle was so the team will take this into consideration when examining you. It can make a diffreence where you are in your cycle if you need to have a breast MRI but this isn't something that's typically done at a first appointment.
I know it's easy to say but try not to worry too much. I hope all goes smoothly next week.
