Bloody Mucus/Left Side Abdomen Discomfort

HI,

for the past year and a half i have been experiencing left sided abdomen fullness/discomfort. I suffer from constipation, uncomfortable gurgling and noises from the left side. My abdomen feels swallen all the time and my bowels never seem to empty. I get a lot of mucus when i go to the toilet. My GP keeps putting this down to IBS. i have had bloods and stool tests but nothing seems to be showing up just my blood count seems to be a little raised wich they thought may be an infection but they arent treating it. I am booked in for the camera in November and my anxiety is through the roof. Has anyone else expereinced this? I am not loosing weight and still have my appitite. Thanks x

    Sounds a little like me - no one seems to be taking me seriously; my isssues have been on going for years and came to a head in Feb i was so unwell i couldnt get out of bed... this passed after around 2 weeks but i still get pain, sickness, hair loss, i've bizarrely developed a limp in my left hip, im a fatigued and just generally feel awful all the time. Around 4 weeks ago i began losing blood when i go to the toilet, i had a rectal exam and the Dr said she is satisfied that its not piles or an anul fissure. 

     

    I was referred in Feb to Gastro, this was updated to urgent however they have now cancelled that and referred me straight for a urgent colonoscopy - i gave them a ring to find out how long i may be waiting they have advised that it is likely to be well in excess of 26 weeks................

     

    Im at a loss - no idea what it could be & thinking the worst.

    i dont feel like im being taken serious either. I dont really feel unwell with it its just uncomfortable everyday living with it. I feel like i have developed a limp too - as if my left side is weighted down. 

     

    same here :( its so annoying being in the unknown.

    Hello, 

    I am sorry about the problems that you are having, I hope that you start to feel better soon. 

    I am no expert and can only share a personal experience. I too suffer with bloating, blood, Mucus, feeling like my bowel is never empty, gurgling noises etc. I had blood tests, ultrasound and the camera. They were all clear and i was treated for IBS, all the meds that i tried didnt help me personally so i have learned to live with it.

    When I had the camera, it was not a nice experience for me, it was very painful, the consultant said people who suffer with severe IBS tend to be more affected due to the air that they use in the procedure, although after i had the procedure i felt so much better because my bowel was fully empty, it felt amazing!

    Please dont let that put you off because many others that i have spoken with found the camera to cause no pain at all!

    All of your symptoms certainly sound like IBS but of course you must get checked and get a medical opinion!!

    Aww its horrific; i really feel for you! 

     

    My hip plays up constantly - well i say hip its like something above my hip bearing down. 

     

    I think for me its my age they keep saying that i am only 35 so  cancer is very very unlikely but yet they say there isnt anything else wrong - honestly they are making me feel like i am making it up!

     

    Although this isnt the first time when i was a little girl i had excruciating stomach pain was in and out of the Drs, back and fourth to A&E and they told my mother there was absolutely nothing wrong with me - turns out my Gall Bladder had been in a bad way since birth and ruptured resilting in emergency surgery. But they said i was too young and it couldnt possibly be that! So very frustrating! xx
