2ww lower GI

Hi, new to this so hopefully I've done this right.

So for the passed few months I've had bowel issues etc, finally got round to doctors after covid etc and putting it off. I had an examination and complete stool samples with lots of blood tests also, the day after the doctor called and wanted more stool samples (which was a complete different looking test. Anyway, I complete the test. A few days later I got a call saying they have ruled out infection and bacteria and so on however my stool blood and mucus test came back positive. She then advised I need urgent referral and sent a letter by text. This was the 8/9/20 and the letter states I should be contacted by the 10/9/20 which is only a two day referral period. Today is the 9/9/20.

I know doctors can't give much a way on the phone, she was so nice and saying don't worry once we start your care package we will look after you and get me to a particular hospital for my care to commence, this is two hospitals away from where I live.

The letter I received was for 2ww lower GI- she did say it was related to my bowel so I googled 2ww lower GI and it's just showing me cancer ie cancer research, Macmillan and so on. Anyone else had this and what was the actual outcome as she has ruled out IBS etc too.

Any help will be appreciated on what to expect or what anyone else thinks. Ps the doctor was so caring and assuring.

  • Hello Keefy_85,

I am sorry to hear you have been experiencing these issues for the past few months. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
