Worried I have lymphoma

Over the past few months I have noticed a lump above my left collarbone and the gland in the left side of my neck is enlarged. The one on the side of my neck is pea sized, hard and moveable which i think isnt too much to worry about but the one above my collarbone is hard and immovable and its big!

I have so much anxiety about this, im literally crying myself to sleep every night. I have convinced myself I have lymphoma.

I have no symptoms other than enlarged lympth nodes. I had my bloods done a month ago and everything came back normal, now im just waiting on meeting with a consultant. Im so anxious and all i keep doing is searching on the internet to try and convince myself otherwise but honestly its just making things worse.

Has anyone had any positive experiences like mine? Just to ease my mind a bit.

Thanks

K

  • Hello YoungK

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns the past few months. As you may have seen on the forum, it's not uncommon for people to have raised lymph nodes and there are lots of reasons that can cause this.
It's good to hear that your tests to date have all come back normal and hopefully you won't have to wait too long to see the Consultant.

In the meantime it's important to not keep searching Google in an attempt to find answers. It will lead you down lots of rabbit holes that won't necessarily give you information that helps but will certainly raise your anxiety even more. I'd suggest having a look at this website for some tips to help manage your anxiety whilst you're waiting for your appointment.

You're also welcome to call our team of nurses for a chat if you think it may help. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040. It may be that they're able to offer you some reassurance.

I hope that you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi hope my experience helps I have just been diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma. I had swelling of my lymph nodes in my neck and chest I found that listening to your doctor is the best thing to do and not looking at the internet to much doing that can make the anxiety even worse. I'm trying not to look at the Internet. It isn't easy i know but if there is anything wrong the doctor will find it.

  • Hi thank you for commenting back.
You are right and i have now stopped my self from searching anything more on the internet and im just going to wait for the doctors to tell me what it is.
Im so sorry about your recent diagnosis and I hope everything goes well for you and your journey.

I've just got a few questions if that is okay, how big were your lumps in your neck and what did they feel like? And also did you have any symptoms?

    Best wishes

    K
