Lump on thigh

Hi all,

I have found a sizeable lump/swelling on my thigh and went to the doctors about a month ago.

Within 2 days I saw a lovely nurse who specializes in sarcomas.

She did a thorough examination and came to the conclusion that it wasn't a lump and was harmless.

I was very relieved but confused as to why it (lump/swelling) was there.

I think it has got bigger and surprised I haven't been sent for scans.

Is this normal for them not to examine further?

I'm thinking about going back to the doctors but also feel silly that I might be making a fuss out of nothing.

Has anyone been through a similar experience?

  • Hi Glaswellt and welcome to the forum.

If you've noticed changes to the lump/swelling on your thigh since you've seen the nurse then do be sure to go back and have this checked out by your doctor as they'll be in the best position to tell you whether this is any cause for concern and if it needs further investigation.

Hopefully it won't and the doctor will agree with what the nurse told you but it's always good to have peace of mind in situations like these.

If it helps we have some information on on our website on how to get the most out of your GP appointment at this time.

    Kind regards,
