Stopped breastfeeding last 2 monthsBreast soreness and lump

I'm so afraid (I am contacting the GP tomorrow).
but I've found a lump it's quite sore but actually feels better after a hot compress, if left without a hot compress it feels like it's catching under my arm.
As I've said before the hot compress has reduced this catching sensation so I'm wondering if it's something more to do with inflammation.

ive recently stopped breast feeding in the 2 months so I am aware that you can have some differences in tissues feeling or new lumps.

However the worry is making me Ill, my heads already got me in the very worse case scenario and I don't even no anything yet. You see my daughter is only 7 months old and has a life limiting condition. As well as this I've had 4 family members in the last 5 years pass away from various cancers, leaukeamia, skin cancer, lung cancer and most recently my mum 2 weeks after the birth of my daughter to triple negative to breast cancer. So understandably I'm petrified.
Mum was tested for the BRACA gene and was told she didn't have it. The only thing it's the pain and lump is exactly the same place and size as my mums started.

im trying my hardest not to worry but I'm so afraid my little girl isn't going to have a mummy.

  • How did you get on with the GP Rockch1ck? I hope you've managed to get an appointment and will be speaking with them soon but whilst you wait I just wanted to let you know we're thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed this lump isn't anything sinister.

I'm sure some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their support and advice to you soon as well.

    All the best,

  • Thank you Steph.

I went the GP he was pretty non-commital on what it could but I understand it's pretty hard anyway just from a physical examination.
He has given me antibiotics (which I'm not sure he would have given me if he didn't feel it was worth trying and made a refferal to my local clinic anyways so they can thoroughly check and do any other tests they may need.

He was very good at understand where my anxiety is incredibly heightened due to my mums history but also very good at making me aware there could be lots of reasons not just cancer.

i actually feel better in myself for making the first step and getting appointments in motion and the pain he reduced after 48 hours of antibiotics, ibuprofen and a few hot compress's.

the GP also mention to explain my mums history to clinic as they can sometime recommend early mammography screening for peace of mind as well trying to catch things early.

    many thanks for your reply.
