Indentation with pain

hi ladies, so a good few months ago I noticed a slight indentation on the underside of my breast it was only visible when I lift my arm up and only on 1 breast. At first I thought it was off my bra and didn't really think anything of it, then lockdown came and I just totally forgot all about it. Then a few days ago I started getting pain in that breast I am due on my period so again didn't think anything, but then yesterday the pain has been getting worse and only in that left breast so I was looking at them both and seen the indentation again and its around where I'm getting pain.

This morning I went to the doctor he had a look said he could see the indentation and performed a breast exam.

He thinks there is nothing to worry about and I just have normal lumpy breasts. He asked me if I wanted a routine referral to the breast clinic which I said yes to put my mind at ease. But he didn't really explain the pain or indentation?

Could it just be period related even though I dont normally get pain ? Am I just overthinking ? Are indentations normal ? What have your experiences been ? By the way I'm 35 with large breast

Thanks

  • Hello Phoenix84,

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your routine referral to the breast clinic. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time while waiting to find out more but it's reassuring to hear that the doctor has told you they are not worried.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online as it will always bring up worst case scenarios. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
