Receiving Results - phone or hospital?!

Feeling nervous.
I had a stereotactic biopsy 2 weeks ago after calcifications were found on my mammogram. I've just had a phone call to ask me to come in on the 15th to see the doctor, I feel sick at the thought! I kinda thought with the current Covid restrictions that if everything was ok they would tell me over the phone rather than have unnecessary appointments in the hospitals!
How has everyone else been told results?
I can't help now but fear the worst:(

it will be 4 wks after biopsy to receiving my results, does this sound about right?!
Xx

  • Welcome to the forum Srf14 although I'm sorry for the reason you're joining us.

How you receive results can vary depending on what part of the country you're in so being called in doesn't necessarily mean it will be bad news and I'm sure some of our members who have been through this will pop by to share their advice and experiences with you soon.

Waiting for results is always an anxious time but I hope this article I've found will help keep your nerves at bay until you find out more.

Wishing you all the best for the 15th Srf14.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi,

Good cancer news or bad cancer news should always be given face to face - eiher way us patients always have questions to ask. My first cancer scare was over 25 years ago, my latest one 12 months ago  and my for real one 6 years ago. On all three occasions the news was given face to face.

    I hope this helps.
