Worried about husband, waiting for colonoscopy

my hubby has had bleeding when he wipes after a poo.He has had a positive bowel screen and has a colonoscopy booked for 23rd sept.He hasn't had any blood now for about 5 weeks but for the last week has had diarrhoea.

Really worried about him.

I know we have to wait to see what the colonoscopy finds but really worried about his symptoms. He doesn't feel unwell and hasn't lost any weight.

I have stupidly made the  mistake of googling the symptoms!  For someone who works in the NHS I should know better!

He has a history of piles and the last colonoscopy he had 4 years ago showed some bleeding at the entrance but doctors weren't concerned by this and no further action was needed.

  • Hello Ang800,

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your husband's colonoscopy. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you both while waiting to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. And you are absolutely right about Googling symptoms. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online as it will always bring up worst case scenarios. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine for your husband.

    Best wishes,
