Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read what you're going through at the moment. It's never easy waiting for an appointment, particularly while there are any symptoms you may be worried about. I'm not sure how long the doctor said to expect to wait to get the appointment, but if they gave a timeline and it's now gone past this, you could always call the hospital to check.

Otherwise, many people say the best thing is simply to try to keep yourself busy and distracted. Carry on as normally as you can, avoid dwelling on it or Googling it - which is rarely helpful as the information can be irrelevant and end up increasing worry.

Hi Mistyglen.  The NHS standard is that you should be seen within 2 weeks for post menopausal bleeding so maybe try to speak to your GP again?  I hadn't heard from the clinic after 2 weeks so I called my GP and found that there was some problem with the communication between GP and hospital but once that was sorted they saw me within days.  I am in the same position, had a heavy bleed two years after my last period.  I had the trans vaginal ultrasound and a week later I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy because my uterus lining is thickened.  I have a few fibroids which have been left as is but I had a polyp removed at the same time.  Now waiting for the biopsy result which they said will be 3 weeks (so end of next week).  I'm not feeling too stressed as I understand most bleeds are not due to cancer/precancer and even if it is that then I believe they usually just do a hysterectomy.  One thing at a time anyway.

Thank you for you reply, I have been onto the hospital to chase appointment they said I am on the list ..but due to covid they are behind... by at least 2 month !! ,  I was referred as urgent told should be seen within 2wks,  but they still say it could be months ie November , went back to GP who had been in touch with them 3 wks ago he was told there are delays too he has tried to push for a date but got nowhere ....told to check back in with him if still no word,

Have went back onto GP this wks to say still nothing so frustrated he is doing another referral urgent to try get a date before November ...Have even been told it may be better to try go privately... which is another worry... I get there are delays but to be hung out on a limb is really not helpful I have a strong history of cancer in my family Mum, & daughter had cancer , sister & aunt's gyno problems .... the waiting is driving me mad with a family there is always things to keep me busy lol....
