Getting a diagnosis from private

I have recently done an MRI which found abnormality on my prostrate. I am now listed for ultrasound scan and biopsy and the appointment could take up to 3 months to come through. I am worried that the delay in diagnosis could lead to lost opportunity for early treatment that if l have the cancer. Can anyone advice on how l can get diagnosis privately. I have tried to search for private cancer clinic within my local NHS Foundation in Birmingham  but nothing is coming up

  • Speak to your GP - I think they have to do the referral

Also try looking on private healthcare sites such as BUPA, Nuffield Health. Think they do one-off consultations not just people who already have health insurance.

  • Hi,

I hope you manage to find a private hospital that can do this quicker but just be aware that some aren't seeing patients at all at the moment. Many have been given to the NHS during the Covid crisis so that their facilities & staff can be used for treatments that NHS hospitals can't deal with. Some have now been given back & are slowly starting to see private patients but it's very slow & a patchy coverage.

    Good luck,

    Angie
