Multiple polyps and biopsys removed awaiting results

I am 32 yr old and for past year I been ill lots of blood test, ENT, haematology, loads CT and PET scans been  done but still no real explaination for all my

symptoms and abnormal blood readings.
PET scan found a 8mm nodule on my lung which is being monitored.
ive had stomach issues more recently FIT test was positive so I had a colonoscopy today they found multiple polyps throughout my colon biggest was 15mm they couldn't finish taking them all out because I became very Distressed and threw up. 5 polyps and 8 random biopsy were taken so far, They removed the big polyp but then dropped it so they hoping i will pass it through and then give it to them so they can test it.

should I be concerned as they graded the big one pedunculated (IP pit type IV)

and the 6mm ones sessile (IIa pit type IIIs)

there are still more inside I'm going back in 6 months to have rest removed.

the doctor that performed the colonoscopy came in after and said she is quiet confident she has just prevented me getting colon cancer but obviously we waiting for pathology to confirm.
is there anything in what I've said would concern anyone???

  • I can't offer any advice or guidance, but I thought I'd reach out as I'm in a similar position. I'm 28 and had blood in my stools and irregular bowel movement for the last 6 weeks. I went in for a Colonoscopy on Monday and they found a 12mm pedunculated polyp (Ip, pit type IIIs) which they removed and tattooed the area. I also had 8 random biopsies and the surgeon said it looked benign. From what I could gather from Google (not the most reliable source I'm afraid but all I have) was that if a polyp is under 20mm, it's much less likely to be cancerous. I no longer have any blood (touch wood) and bowel movements are still pretty all over the place but I think that's expected and they do seem to be settling slightly. During discharge from hospital, I was advised that the next steps for me would probably be having me in on a yearly basis to be monitored so they can catch things early - both a blessing and a curse (Moviprep is the worst!) as they are more likely to come back. This might not be the same for you as they also mentioned a hereditary condition that makes polyps more likely as Colon Cancer at a "young" age runs in my family so they think that it may be in my genes. I hated the colonoscopy, but it is reassuring to know that they will be monitoring it - and I expect given your age you would be monitored closely too (sorry!)

I'm trying to stay positive as everyone is telling me that a doctor wouldn't say it's benign/prevented cancer, unless they were pretty much certain. I know firsthand this doesn't ease your mind (that's why I'm on here at 3 am) but I hope it can offer a smidge of reassurance.

  • Hi birchybabe,

thanks for commenting and sorry ur going through this.
can I ask did U have pain in stomach over last 6 weeks?
I've been in so much pain the colonoscopy was so painful they said it because of my 2 c-sections and scar tissue, By the end of the colonoscopy I was moving all over the place they had to stop but got some of them. My

Belly is very sore and I'm have some strange feeling strong painkillers took the pain away but i keep getting sharp pains and my belly hurts when I pee and when I walk so I'm walking slowly did you experience any of this?
also when do you get your pathology results?
Did they only find one polyp?

Hope u get some answers and everything gets resolved
