My Story - CT Colonography

I'm only posting here today because I had read so many horrible stories and experiences of this procedure that just reading them nearly talked me out of doing it right up until it started.

My story, 3 1/2 years ago bowel movement with blood, a lot, and it hurt. I laid it off to eating way to many sunflower seeds. Fast forward 6 months intermittent constipation with narrow stool, pencil stool, loose stool, pellet stool. Told my doctor he gave me a physical evaluation and took my blood, nothing wrong. I slowly started to learn that if i ate HEAVY fiber foods and got some form of excersize that my stool looked "sort of" normal, but always looked like someone had just gently stepped on it to give it a flat'ish appearance. A year later of living by this diet I noticed more blood in stool a streak per say, got another doctors appointment said i was to young to be given a colonoscopy (this was in Canada) but he did give me a fit test, that came back negative, no more blood came, returned to eating same diet but sometimes wavering from it and getting again FLAT stool, pellet stool, loose stool, finally decided to put and end to this and personaly paid for a CT Colonography. After reading all the horror stories people had posted I almost didn't want to do it but I went ahead with it anyways.

Let's start with the prep, the Gastrografin, its gross ya but I just rinsed my mouth with mouthwash after and it was done. First dose does nothing (laxative) woke up in the morning and took the second dose, started going to the bathroom actively within an hour, a lot, 5 times I believe. Completely cleared out.

Got to the hospital, super professional, nothing hurt at all, not the tiny miniscule little tube going up my bum nor did the gas expanding my colon hurt either, discomfort yes but not pain, it was COMPLETELY FINE.

Iodine into the veins, warm flushing sensation, kind of cool.

Hold breath to 6 seconds 6 times in total in 2 different positions.

15 minutes and done

My scan is completely clean including all surrounding organs, there is nothing wrong with me and I feel reborn. I have some sort of digestive issue yes that is most likely a IBS-C that I need to try and deal with by hacking my food plans. I will update when I can.

If you have the chance to get this done, DO GET IT DONE. I was prepared for the diagnosis to go either way but I am very blessed and grateful it went the way it did, and knowing what I know now I would go back for 1 of these every week if it wouldnt fill my stomach with more radiation than chernobyl.

I hope this helps someone.
