Throat cancer help..

So.. I have had a pain/sore throat it's hard to explain, one side is sore but it's not a complete sore throat but one side hurts/aches if that makes any sense.

my throat feels tight and like there's a lump but can't see ikr feel anything abnormal, I'm still able to eat and drink normal also the doctor said it sounds more like anxiety related as I had googled and worried myself if could be cancer.. he's ordered tests at hospital to have camera down to check throat
im 31 smoked for a few years when I was younger, don't drink ect.

  • I'm sorry to hear you're still having health anxiety issues Hough.

I noticed that you've posted numerous times over the last few weeks including 5 times in our Ask The Nurses area. The nurses have explained on each occasion that only your doctor can diagnose you and I can see from your last post that your GP is aware of your symptoms and has already referred you for tests which is great but you won’t find any answers on a cancer forum and all it is doing is fuelling your anxiety.

We do acknowledge that you are dealing with very real symptoms and have severe health anxiety issues which do need addressing. If you can it would be a good idea to open up to your GP about your health anxieties and to try and get help for that. You will find that many of the symptoms you are experiencing can be exacerbated when you are anxious.

The NHS have some helpful information about health anxiety here or you could try the charity Anxiety UK who have a helpline where you can speak to someone who is experienced in dealing with these issues.

In the meantime try to stay away from cancer forums and googling your symptoms if you can as it is only making you more anxious.

    Kind regards,
