Mild Blunting of right lung is it always cancer

Hi there. I'm 54 next week. Ex smoker. Five children. In March I was very ill and so was all in the house. Husband has since tested positive for covid19 antibodies so we think all of us must have had the virus. However since March I've been having hess as ath problems with breathing. Have bronchitis most of my life. In June my oxygen levels were all over the place reaching as low as 86 and going up to 92 and then later in a week it would reach 97. So teo weeks ago I went for a chest X-ray and am waiting on heart scan. In the last two weeks I've no wheezing. Oxygen is 99. And I'm ferr ref king amazing but yesterday got a call from my go to tell me I have mild blunting on my right lung.  She has organised a letter for a lung specialist to see me. I asked her foes she think I have cancer and she said she needs to rule it out. My question although long winded is for tho use of you who have lung cancer were you told early one about blunting in your lung.  I'm trying to stay calm but I'm one of those people I just need to know all the facts. Xx

  • Hello Maudeoh
I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with these health problems at the moment. I'm unsure if any of our members here have had experience of being told they have blunting but given that you do have some changes it's sensible that your GP has referred you to the specialist for further investigations.

We know that this period of time of waiting for tests and appointments can be really worrying for lots of people. Try to take things a day at a time and avoid using Google to search for answers. Unfortunatley it won't giv eyou any answers but it will make you more anxious.

If you'd like to have a chat with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
