Lump on uvula

Hi. I have been in and out of the ENT and GP being referred back and forth for a swollen lymph node under my jaw and neck and was discharged after an ultra sound scan saying it was "benign looking" both on the right I also had a lump on my uvula it's not just a bump it's a round bump almost like it's splitting to 3 bumps. It was there for all of my appointments the first ENT noted it but the second when I had the scan wasn't at all attracted to it and said I have inflamed throat due to silent reflux I have taken the meds for 5 months and gAviscon daily I have no symptoms of reflux but she said it's likely when I'm sleeping. The lump on my uvula has never gone down and if anything is getting bigger..... my GP said ENT are not bothered about it so neither am I, but couldn't tell me what it is. Has anyone else has / got a lump on the uvula I am awaiting a third ENT app to look at it as it hasn't gone away.. I also get small bumps that seem to come and go above the uvula to the hard palate and feel discomfort when I swallow on

the left. I have a small white lump on my right tonsil and seem to get white under my tongue that I can wipe away with a towel the GP said thrush and has given me a gel and drops but neither have made any difference it's hard to get in front of a GP and these are mainly phone appointments as they are not keen to look inside the mouth still. I have a dental appointment in a few weeks to see what light he can shed but quite worried about the lump on the uvula as I struggle to find similar online

many thanks

  • Hello ashg44,

I hope your upcoming appointments go ok and that they get to the bottom of your symtoms.

When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better.  And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi, l also having round bumps on uvula but GPs on phone are like contact if you develop any pain and they asked to send in a picture. Did you see any doctor or did you find out what they are.

  • Hi, I sent photos that went to the ENT as they are not looking in throats as much as possible. The ENT went back to the GP who called and said it was a cyst on the uvula, the type began with an R but I can't think of it sorry. They said to keep an eye open for pea shaped lumps under the jawline but they didn't seem concerned and it hadn't changed at the moment

  • Hi All

I too have a lump on my uvula, it's pink and almost on a stalk, it's quite small and moves around and is soft to the touch. I noticed it when I had a sore throat around a month ago. The GP didn't want to see me due to Covid so I emailed various photos and they emailed these to ENT who came back saying it's a "papilloma on the uvula" and they'd be delighted to see me their clinic. Anyway I've now been referred to ENT but I've been advised it could be an 18 week wait due to delays. I am an anxious worrier at the best of times so wondered how you all got on? Even though they said it's a papilloma until I see ENT in person and it's removed I just keep going back to "must be cancer" "I have a throat cancer" and cannot seem to be rational.

    Thanks for reading

  • Ah yes I've seen that photo on my google marathons of worry. Yeah mine is the same colour but can be moved as it's on a stalk. When is your ENT appt? Sounds like mine could be months :(

  • I am not being seen now they did photos and said they will see me when Covid has gone in antisipation of this new second wave. They said the images ( I sent about 500) are of a benign cyst but I would really like someone to see in the flesh. My GP will not. I went to the dentist and he said he wasn't alarmed and if that's what ENT say then that's what it is. It hasn't grown at all since spotting it but it's there a daily worry

  • Hi. I hope this issue has been resolved as I can see it was from last year. I have the same lump on my uvulva and couldn't find anything online. However, having seen a very good ENT, he said it's in reaction to silent reflux. I think that's why lumps are coming and going in my mouth elsewhere. My reflux is quite severe and has affected my breathing so I think this sounds completely plausable.

I hope you've got to the bottom of it but I think the silent reflux explanation makes sense seeing as I'm having the same issue as you.

  • Bless you, so pleased to hear that, because at the moment I'm waiting to see a E.N.T specialist soon regarding my uluva.
