Mole on vulvar!! Multiple lymph nodes

Hey!

im 24 with a 20 month old!

ive had this mole on my vulvar for a while and never really thought anything of it. It's dark seems circular not too big not not a tiny dot either.. on the left minora area and I always thought it was odd as the sun doesn't go there haha!! But my partner has one on his genitalia too but the outside And so I didn't think much more of it. I can't remember when I first noticed it like it's blank in my head.. but I feel like it was there before I had my son in December 2018 but I'm doubting myself now I really cannot remember.. my memory has completely gone.

anyways someone in a health anxiety group I'm on mentioned vulvar cancer and now I've googled and worrying as I can't find much on moles just genetically found in this area... the colour is dark dark brown almost black. Maybe half a cm in diameter I'm not sure.

the prognosis for this kind of thing online is apparently not so great, I had a smear in April and I'm not sure if they would have noticed in then or if they'd even have checked that area but I'm starting to worry.

i have got a few lymph nodes im my armpit (left side) my neck pretty much left side and teeny one in collar bone which doctors brush off and aren't worried by but they haven't gone, one is painful right under my jaw and the others are uncomfortable too. I'm worried it's all connected now. I'm obviously going to call the doctor and ask them to check it out but wondering if anyone had anything similar in mean time ? X

  • Hi,

It's good that you are going to see your GP - hopefully they will be able to ease your mind or refer you to a dermatologist to check out if the mole is dodgy.

Moles on the vulva aren't common but it doesn't mean they are always dodgy. The vulva is skin, just like the rest of the body, and you can get moles anywhere on the skin. New moles can appear at any time, especially during pregnancy due to hormones - this may have occurred in your case. Existing moles aren't caused by exposure to the sun but changes to existing moles or new moles appearing can be UV related. However, cancerous moles that are in areas that aren't exposed to sunlight are caused by genetics.

Try not to Google as it will just send you crazy. There are a couple of old posts on this forum from members who went through the same worry as you - one of them had her vulva moles biopsied and they were benign so hopefully yours will be fine too. Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

    Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient)
