Waiting for endometrial biopsy results

Hi, I wondered if someone wouldn't mind sharing their experience with endometrial cancer please? About 2 years ago I started having problems with my periods. Out of no where they became very heavy and painful. I also stating suffering from incredible fatigue. This year I found it difficult to put tampons in and at times it's felt like they're being pushed out...very strange. This week I've had a hysteroscopy where fibroids and polyps were ruled out as a reason for a thickened lining, but a biopsy was taken. I know something is wrong as my periods have become worse and worse over the years but I can't get my head around it being because of endometrial cancer...surely the symptoms would be worse? Hope you don't mind me asking but has anyone who's premenopausal been diagnosed with endometrial cancer where the symptoms werent "bad"...heavy painful periods, fatigue, difficulty with using tampons and light pain with intercourse, where you didn't have this before? Thank you

  • Hi Revi, hope you are doing ok. Saw your post and I suffered from VERY heavy periods for a number of years from age 48 and like you, I felt that tampons were being forced out. I also had fatigue in that when I sat down after tea I could be asleep within minutes! I didn't suffer pain as such but did laterly feel pressure in lower abdomen,  my ultrasound and transvaginal scan showed fibroids and polyps.  I know it's difficult but try not to worry. X

  • Thank you catswhiskers, hope everything is well with you now X

  • Hi Revi, thank you, yes I am. My scan showed fibroids polyps and a thickened womb lining, and after a biopsy I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. It was a scary time, but 7 months on I am completely fine and last scan showed NED.  Try not to worry, but even if it's not good news it is treatable and doable. If you need to ask anything please feel free to message me. X

  • So sorry to hear that you were diagnosed, but I'm so glad to hear that you're doing well now. I'm ok, thank you. Weirdly I wanted them to find something there and then so it could be treated and be done with. Not sure how I feel about it being something more than fibroids/polyps, it's like it's not happening. Other than the problema I've already mentioned I feel really healhty! So I can keep thinking it can't be anything else, but I keep reading that there's not many symptoms to it... I can't even remember how long they said I'd need to wait for results. Last few days have been a bit blurry, but that'll be because if the general anaesthetic X

  • Aw yes. I had my hysteroscopy without anaesthetic and it was uncomfortable but doable. The nurses were really good.  However I waited 17 weeks for my hysteroscopy appointment then a further 7 weeks for my biopsy result, although my gp initially placed me on 2 week referral!!'???  Wish I had the knowledge I have now then! But remember, it's not always bad news,  people will tell you to stay positive but it does really help. Take care x

  • Hi I was reading your post and seems similar to my current situation I has a ultrasound scan and a transvaginal scan where it showed I have a cyst on my ovary and a fibroid and a thickening if the womb I had a 9cm biopsy done and a ca125 blood test I am still waiting on the results but received a letter today asking me to go for another ultrasound scan and another transvaginal scan , I'm so confused as to why they would be sending me for the same scans I've already had x

  • Hi sjdc. How are you, hope you are doing ok.   I'm Not completely sure why they are redoing the same scans - perhaps they just need clarification as images might not have been clear at the time.  I was aware that something showed up at my TS scan and therefore progressed to a hysteroscopy. You are having same scans repeated so it's probably because the images weren't exactly clear. You would rather they be thorough and get your exact diagnosis but you could also contact your go to ask why your exact same  ultrasounds are being repeated. I know it's hard not to worry but worrying won't change anything..., deep breath .... you can do this.  This forum is full of people who can give you guidance and support 24/7. Some of the people on here are unbelievable/amazing. They are here to support you all the way so no matter how frightened you are or how late it is, people are here to support you. If you have ANY questions about your symptoms I am happy to help.  Sending positive thoughts

  • Thanks for the reply the first scans I had must of been clear as I saw the consultant after and he said the scans showed a cyst on my ovary a fibroid and the lining of my womb was thickened, he then removed a 9cm biopsy from the lining of my womb and sent me for a ca125 blood test that was 10 days ago and I received a letter from the hospital today for an appointment for an ultrasound and a transvaginal  scan but no results for the biopsy or blood test x

  • Hi sjdc, oh Im really not sure why they would repeat the same scans. I would be inclined to contact your gp to ask about this and perhaps get your blood results at the same time. Usually a further investigation would be a hysteroscopy (camera in womb) . But remember that most cysts and womb thickening are nothing to worry about. I know it's the weekend and very inconvenient that doctors surgery is closed, but I would give them a call on Monday and put your mind at rest. X

  • I've rang my consultants secretary and left a message so hopefully they will pick that up on Monday x
