Swollen lymph nodes, Swollen tonsils

Hi everyone,

I am Elle, 26 years old. I am worried and anxious that I might have cancer. I have 2 swollen lymph nodes on the right side of my neck just below my jawline for more than 2 months now. It wasn't painful before, not until my biopsy taken last week and has been 6 days post-biopsy but it is still painful that I cannot go to work. Ibuprofen and warm compress seem to be not much help for me. So I called my GP and he prescribed Naproxen. I really hope the pain goes away. Also, I have noticed that I have a swollen tonsils but my right tonsil is noticeably bigger than my left. It is bothering me because it is painful and even if I am just yawning or coughing. I am also experiencing right ear pain and difficulty of swallowing. I wish time just flies by quickly so I'll know my result and start any treatment if I need so. My next appointment will be on the 26th. Anyone who has similar experiences like me? Or any advice that might help are all appreciated.

  • Sorry, no advice here Im afraid. But I am 24 and am currently awaiting an ultrasound for 2 swollen lymph nodes. Its been put through as an emergency but apparently I am looking atleast another 3 weeks to receive an appointment date. The waiting is horrible so I totally sympathise! Hope you dont mind me asking.. did you have an ultrasound? How long did your results take? Then wait time for biopsy? Really hoping you have positive results on 26th!!

  • Hello

I have a lump on my neck went to the doctors because I have lost my mum to cancer just recently and told I will have a scan done but she's put it as routine I've waited since March for the appointment and still dont know when it will be  really hope everything comes out clear and well for you

  • Im so sorry to hear you recently lost your Mum. That must make the worrying even worse for you. I cant believe they have put you down as routine, I believe that means they should see you within 18 weeks (not 100% sure though) but Im guessing those times will have been affected by covid. Hopefully you wont have to wait too much longer. Hope you get good results x
