Hi, first time poster. Have had a look through the forum for answers but they vary. I'm posting on behalf of my brother who found a lump in his testicle last year. His GP referred him for an ultrasound scan which he got within a week and the GP informed him that these were solid lumps but he would refer him to Urology for further confirmation.
Weeks passed and he never received an appointment, GP confirmed that he put in the referral in November. By mid February (12 weeks) he still had received nothing. He phoned the hospital which rang out, phoned the GP who said he would chase it up. Then Covid happened.
Four weeks ago he finally heard from a consultant who said he wanted another scan done to see if there's any changes. According to the technician, there is a change in the lump and they are present in both testicles, plus 'there's something interesting about the vein' therefore a specialist will definitely have to look at it.
My concern is that 4 weeks later he's heard nothing from the consultant. He managed to get through to his secretary last week who said he would pass on his details but still no word. Is this normal? My worry is that these lumps have grown since last year and even the consultant doesn't understand why he wasn't seen after the first scan. Something clearly went wrong somewhere and now this second lengthy wait is dragging things out further.
Edit: We're in Scotland, has anyone experienced such long waiting times with the NHS here?
