Could it be ovarian cancer?

Hi

I am worried I have all the symptoms of ovarian cancer?!

Going back more than a year now I have been having a lot of digestive issues...either constipation or running to loo umpteen times a day. I actually ended up having to have a haemmaroidectomy in dec last year and am still awaiting a colonoscooy as I still bleed most days. All on hold due to covid. I have had countless urine infections resulting in being sent for a cytoscopy which only showed a very inflamed bladder but nothing else untoward. My periods have been erratic...missing months completely going on to day 65+ then only bleeding for a day but I have the constant feeling in the pelvic area of either being on my period or having a urine infection often with breast pain too. At times the pain travels round my back and down my legs.  I am 47 so a lot is being put down to either peri menopausal IBS or stress. I did have a CA125 test done a few weeks ago which they have stated is normal but dont know the actual level. On a pelvic and internal examination I had a lot of discomfort and altho the gp said there seemed to be no obvious lumps or mases there was a thiickening felt on the rhs. I am now awaiting an ultrasound scan and referral to gynae. My mother had a full hysterectomy at age 43 due to uterine cancer..not sure of all the details as she sadly passed away age 61 of endocrine cancer.

I feel perhaps with a normal CA125 i could be worrying for nothing but have also read it doesnt always show up on bloods.

Any advice welcome while I await my scan appt xx

  • Hello McD1946 and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing discomfort and are, understandably concerned but I’m glad you’re having these symptoms investigated.

Not being a medic, I’m afraid I can’t tell you if what you’re feeling may be due to cancer, the best would be to get evaluated by your medical team. However, until you can get your test and results done, feel free to reach to our team of nurses to ask questions if you feel that speaking to someone medically trained may help. They are available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 5 p.m.

I hope all goes well for you, McD1946, and once you know more please stop by to give us an update.

    Best wishes,

    Renata

  • Hi Renata

Thank you for taking the time to reply and for the contact info given. I have an urgent ultrasound scan this morning so hopefully will know more soon about what may be causing all the problems.
