Waiting times for referral app

Hi everyone,

I'm sure this has been posted loads of times but was wondering what waiting times people had when referred?

I went to the gp on Friday after finding a lump and having a sore breast and she has given me an urgent referral letter and that I would be given an app at the clinic within 2 weeks. 

I'm obviously panicking and can't think about anything else, I'm not sure I can wait 2 weeks and then more time for results etc. 

How did they book it, is it a call or letter? I missed a call this morning from an unknown number and now I worry that could have been it.

    Hi Kirsty, 

     

    I was referred on the 13th July but had to wait until 6th August, I got the appointment through the post but that was about 10 days later. I think it totally depends on where you live as I asked the same question on here and people had been seen much quicker. I am in the North East.

    The wait is horrendous isn't it, I'm now waiting for biopsy results which are going to be given 20 days after biopsy.

     

    Again biopsy results have been much quicker for other people on here too.

    Hi Kirsty,

    It is normal to be given an urgent appointment for the breast clinic and, to be seen within 2 weeks from your referral date and, to get your results within 1-2 weeks, but this can vary in different parts of the country. Again, how you get your appointment can vary. Most appointments tend to be by post, but sometimes they can be given by phone, especially if they are offering a cancellation. Don't worry about your missed appointment this morning. I'm sure that they will phone you again if they didn't get through.

    Try to keep yourself busy as this should help to pass the time.

    Thanks for the replies, I just got my appointment for 28th so looks like it'll be a waiting game for me to :(

    The waiting is horrendous but at least you have your date and it's not too far away although it will feel like it is.
