Swollen lymph node behind ear, low white blood cells...

Hello all,

May I just clarify I do not have cancer, and I send love and good health to everyone on here who is going through it or has been through it.

I guess Im here just looking for a bit of advice. Support and reassurance.

Background, 24f, no history of lumps, mother to 3

Around 4/5 weeks ago I finally braved it and went to the doctors with a lump behind my ear around the size of a 2p, they asked alot of questions. Only ones I answered were I was excessively tired and i was sweating at night (did suggest it was maybe the warmer weather) they prescribed clarithromycin which made me really ill so then prescribed doxycycline. The lump seemed to have gone down a bit so I left it. Fast-forward a few weeks and I have a severe allergic reaction to manuka honey, I request bloods for allergies. They take the bloods, they then phone about me needing to have them retested in 2 weeks time, I tell the Dr on the phone about my lump coming back up and they change thier mind and have me in there and then.

Once there I ask about needing the retest on the bloods and they say I have low white blood cells.

I cannot physically understand why, I have no sore throat, ears, nothing. I don't feel ill. Just tired. They've prescribed more doxy so I'm midway through that currently. They phoned the other day to say they've arranged and urgent scan for me.

I guess I'm worried because I don't want to die, I have 3 beautiful children and a wonderful life

Reality what could this be?

Has anyone experienced similar?

I hopefully get my scan this week, If it's nothing to worry about in the sense of cancer, then what could it be enough to be affecting my white blood cells.

I hope this doesn't sound too weary,

Thank you

X

  • I'm not a doctor but they could be testing to rule out lymphoma (my dad had it and some symptoms are, abnormal white blood cells, tiredness, sweats, swollen lymph nodes)

he was diagnosed with stage 4 large diffused B cell lymphoma via a CT scan, then a biopsy from there.

swollen lymph nodes and abnormal white blood cells are

much more likely to be a stubborn infection though!

if it is lymphoma, dad responded really well to the chemo and is now 3 months off being classed as cured.

fingers crossed it turns out to be a stubborn infection they get to the bottom of.
