Completely understand why you're nervous! I'm 28 and have noticed a lump in my left breast. The nurse at the gp surgery recognised the lump as being 'medically abnormal' and said both of my breasts are quite lumpy. Nurse asked me a few times if I'd been exercising in reference to my chest looking slightly swollen (I think she said swollen or something similar) so now I'm convinced something may be wrong there too.

Urgent referrals to the hospital seem to be routine with breast concern checkups from what I've been reading. It's great that you've got your appointment, I'm still waiting for mine. Already waiting for the results from tests I haven't had yet. 

I've been reading, googling a millions things (try not to do that, it's sending my brain into panic imagining the worst case scenarios). Friends are saying try not to worry as it may be nothing. It may be nothing. It may be something. I guess we have to stay busy and try to keep our minds off worrying until we have had tests and results.

In my recent experience all 2 week wait appointments are for suspected cancers and show up as such on letters etc. It's very disconcerting but try not to read to much into it. I've been on a 2 week wait for a brain tumour, all normal. Then a 2 week wait for abdominal cancer, all normal and now I'm on a 2 week wait for head/neck cancer and I suspect it will all come back normal! I think it's more about the drs being overly cautious and making sure you get the best treatment in the shortest space of time. 

Hey, it's me again. I went to the appointment today and it has been done by a very nice and reassuring doc. However they haven't done a scan or mammography. The doc felt my breasts and lymph nodes and could not feel anything suspicious, and also said I am too young for mammogrpahy and because he found everything OK he wouldn't do any diagnostic imaging, MRI or so. 

I am happy for what he said but still a bit worried and thinking if I should go for a private scan. I know that's expensive but at least I could be sure that I am alright.

That is good to know, I can see why you feel like you need more assurance. You could try another appointment with a gp or walk in centre? Can your blood be tested to check if anything is upsetting your immune system?

I did have my appointment actually, it wasn't supposed to be until next week but they squeezed me in on Tuesday. The breast expert man? Haha recognised the lump and examined both my breasts and said he's certain it was nothing to worry. He did put me forward for an ultra sound straight after, to put my mind at rest. Which it has. I feel very lucky.

Good luck with your ultra sound! I called my gp and they told me if a specialist has seen me and he didn't recommend a scan, the gp can not do anything about it. Basically they said they will not refer me for a scan, and advised me to call the hospital's complaint phone line if I am not happy... I don't know what to do really. I am thinking to pay for a private scan because my breast does not feel alright. It might be nothing but I wan to know.

Anyway, we'll see! xx
