I hope my reply will take away some of your anxieties. 
a marker is usually placed on a tumour BUT that does not mean it is a cancerous tumour by all means it also marks a place of uncertainty so for instance it can be easily seen again in the case of it not being cancerous straight away (instead of all that roaming around).

Thank you for your reply, my radiologist did the ultrasound and said it was a solid lesion not a fluid filled cyst so she was going to do a biopsy and that she would probably insert a metal chip followed by a mammogram.

she then did the biopsy and said that she had decided not to insert the metal chip.

im trying to decide if that's a good thing haha.

i know I just need to wait and see, it doesn't matter how much googling I do I still have to just wait for the results!

but it's nice to write my feelings down somewhere.

Hi  cat42. I am in the same boat as you. Just had a vaccume biopsy under mamogram and had a metal clip inserted. I too have results on 26th. Was it a lump you found?

Mine was a lump which turns out to be cysts but they saw calcifications near the nipple so they have biopsoed that whole area.
