Colposcopy Results

Hi,

just wondering if anyone has every had this before as I'm a little surprised. I am 24 and just had my very 1st smear test that came back as HPV positive and boarderline changes. I was invited to a colposcopy for a closer look and had biopsy's taken. After the procedure I was in bits as the hospital told me unfortunately it's not boarderline and looks like very high CIN and treatment to remove the cells will be needed in the next month. The hospital even gave me a letter saying high CIN. I was told my treatment to have them removed would be booked once my biopsy results are in. So 9 days later I receive my biopsy results and I am in complete shock they have come back as CIN1 with no treatment needed and smear in 12 months. I am happy very happy but I am in shock how they can go from CIN3 and treatment needed urgently to CIN1 see you in 12 months for a smear. Has anyone ever heard of this before ?

  • I'm glad your biopsy results were better than expected Sanx but I can understand your confusion over what you were originally told.

The hospital looking after you or your GP will be in the best position to explain your results but if you'd like to have a chat with one of our cancer nurses about this then you can give them a call next week on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their advice and experiences with you soon as well.

    Kind regards,
