Hard lump behind right knee

Really worried noticed this lump behind my right knee a few weeks ago As I was in the bath I've never felt it before, I've been to numerous drs and hospitals had 2 lots of blood work done over 2 days both for full blood counts and all that came back normal, had pain in and around my knee too, had many drs examine me all have said they thought it could possibly be a bakers cyst but I had ultrasound the other day that ruled that out the sonographer said everything looked ok and could not visualise any lumps on the scan even though you can clearly feel it, I've asked for an mri to be done got a few weeks to wait till I get appointment through I'm so scared if anyone had had anything similar, I have a partner and 2 young children absolutely terrified it's going to be the worst x

  • Hello Lizzie25,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your MRI scan and results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi thanks for your reply, I've managed to get an mri quicker in a different hospital got one booked in for next week hopefully things do go ok, I am slightly reassured that my ultrasound scan didn't show any abnormalities although the lump is there, I'm now just thinking is it something that's always been there and I've just not noticed, xx

  • Hi Lizzie just wanted an update. How are you doing now?

  • Hi, thanks for the reply, I had an MRI scan done, the results were came back as possible meniscal tear and meniscal cyst (basically torn ligament) had a letter from GP to say I was being referred to orthopaedics specialist, and the letter basically said I've torn a ligament in my knee, I attended the appointment with the specialist, waste of time in my opinion, I walked in and he asked me about my knee then says to me he can't see anything on the MRI scan, the lump can still be felt to this day but apparently it's nothing so it's just left at that but glad I'm okay
