lump on tonsil - 17 y/o really scared

hi everyone, im very stressed as several weeks ago i noticed a lump on my left tonsil, the lump isnt huge but it is clearly there, probably about the size of a small-ish grape. I also occasionly have ear discomfort or my ear gets blocked on the same side as the swollen tonsil, those are the only symptoms. We went to the doctors, i had antibiotics which didnt work. The doctor said the tonsil may have always been like that but im like 90% sure i would have noticed it before. Ive been referred to an ENT which i'm waiting for and waiting is killing me, i'm absoltely terrified this could be cancer. Every website seems to say having one tonsil larger than the other is a main sign of cancer. I'm so so scared, i really hope i'm over reacting but these things happen to people and i know its rare to have cancer in that place, especially cuz im only 17 but u don't think it will actually happen to you, and then it does and im so scared that it will and this will turn out to be cancer. Over the few weeks since ive noticed it there havent been any changes to it, its not got bigger or smaller or anything, idk if thats good or bad but worth mentioning. Any advice or any kind of message would be much appreciated as im very very stressed, i keep thinking im going to die, im really scared, anything would be appreciated, thank u

  • Hello lizbeee,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your ENT appointment. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. Waiting for news can be so stressful and I thought I'd share this page with you to help you cope as you are waiting to find out more.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
