High risk HPV unclear

Hello

So .... ill try and make it shortm

I'm just abit confused- what do I do -where do i stand.

Christmas 2019 I was in hospital with a  infection in my uterus that led to a large mass come out.

I still don't know from this day what it was and the doctors where unsure aswell (wasn't on period )

They refused to give me a smear beacuse I was 24 I did argu that I would be 25 in 2 weeks but still wouldn't I left the next day however, I havnt been right down there, pain and period since.

I had my first smear in march 2020 letter come back saying HPV postive come back 6-12 months.

In june I went to doctors with a kidney infection and she said see you next week for your smear .... huh ? Though was 6 months she said no you have to come back in June you have been recalled ( felt like a out of date product )

Went back they refused to do the smear she said come back in August so I did

And they refused to do it again ...im so confused why ask me to come in then refuse to do it ?

She then showed me my file that explained I was at high risk with some lumps bumps on cervix and they couldn't get a good result on my cells that why I got recalles( never go tould this)   but she wasn't 100% sure.

I just feel abit lost worried unsure what to do she said if I can get a private smear do it but I can't afford that if not she said ill have to wait till march. Things just float around in your head.

Sorry if this doesn't make sence I'm not very good at writing

Thank you xx

  • Hello Becky2020,

Poor you this sounds really confusing - your head must be spinning after all this! Did they explain to you why they refused to do it if you were told that you needed to get it done now? Perhaps it would be a good idea to ring the GP you saw for your kidney infection who told you that you needed to have this smear done soon and mention your concerns. Do mention that you were told you needed to get this smear done but that you haven't been getting anywhere with it and that you do not understand why this is happening.

I hope your doctor can advise you further on this and that you get this sorted soon!

  • Hello Lucie,
Thank you for getting back to me
Sorry for the slow reply I tried to put it behind me.

    So update!
I went back in March for my smear test this come back HPV positive again.
When I had my smear test the nurse said I bleed more than I should with a smear so she recommended that I come back for some swabs. I did and all clear thankfully.

Bless her heart she phoned me up and said she was concerned still because of my symptoms and booked me in for a colposcopy.
I had this on June the 2nd and she took some biopsies, she said I would get a letter in the post in a couple of weeks with the results.
So I received a letter that said
"We have the results of your colposcopy in im arranging them to be discussed in our MDT meeting at the end of the month where we will write to you with a management plan"
It was so vague I'm a tad confused and worried. Wasn't sure what this meant.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Hello Becky2020,

It's nice to hear from you but I am sorry you've had issues again and had to have a colposcopy. I agree with you that the letter is a bit vague and it would be good if you could actually get details as to what those results are. I am not sure myself what this meant as it really doesn't say much except that those results would be discussed at their MDT meeting. Perhaps you could try ringing them and asking whether they could tell you more about what these results actually are?

I hope you find out more very soon.
