So worried

Hi,

just need some advice as I am so stressed.

ive been having symptoms of a brain tumour for about two weeks  now and it's been persistent headaches, dizziness, feeling sick, pins and needles in my left side and muscle spasms. I've seen the gp about it who did basic neurological tests which were apparently fine.

I started feeling quite poorly and spaced out last night so I called 111 who advised I go to A and E. the doctor there did another neurological test which was apparently fine again but because of my symptoms he wanted me to have an emergency ct scan on the same night to rule anything out.

I had my scan, which was none contrast as I am breast feeding currently and I waited two hours for the results.
the doctor came to speak  to me and said it was all good news and  there was no issue with my scan.

I told him my concern was a tumour because of all my symptoms and he promised me I don't have a tumour. I felt re assured  and went home

however the symptoms are still persisting and it's really unsettling me. I'm scared something has been missed or this is highly unlikely.

im just not sure what else I can do and I'm growing increasingly worried and scared each day

  • Hi Lucyjm, I see you've started another thread on your health anxiety, I replied to your 25th July post and you didn't comment back.  So in that time you've had skin worries regarding cancer and now you think you have a brain tumour even though you've been given the all clear.  I see you are breast feeding and a young Mummy so you are under a lot of stress already, but you need to enjoy your new baby and try and relax more, why not speak to your health visitor about your anxieties she may be able to help you.  It's sad that you are constantly thinking you are seriously ill and worrying yourself sick, which is what you are doing.  So speak to someone about your anxiety first and see if that helps.  Good luck, Carol x

  • Hi,

thank you for replying and for your advice. I'm just quite scared because the symptoms I am experiencing are not going away at all and it's been on going now for a while. I know it's good news that the ct scan showed nothing but I can not make sense of it because I'm still having persisant head pain and tingling in hands and feet and random muscle spasms when I'm laid down in bed. It's really scary. I have been under a lot of stress and I'm trying to relax and tell myself the scan was clear but it's very hard when I'm still having the signs and symptoms

  • Hi Lucy, stress can cause so many problems, I had a young baby and was also looking after my father in law who had dementia, I lost so much weight, permanent headaches, involuntary shakes and at my worst considered just walking off into the dark and never coming back.  So what happened, I'm now nearly 72 years old, two grown daughters, three grandchildren and a husband with cancer, I got through it and so will you.  Stress can be awful, everything tenses up, headaches, necks, limbs, sleep doesn't come easily, everything goes black when you can't think straight you literally think you will faint, so what I'm trying to say is that stress should not be taken lightly its just awful.  Do as I suggest and speak to your health visitors and get some help.  Here if you need help.  Carol x
