Should I call the doctors

Hi guys.

I'm 38. Recently over the last few months I've been feeling tender under my left armpit and the top left of my breast. Not pain just tender.

I can't feel anything when I examine myself unless I lean fully forward and then my skin goes in and then out again and it feels a bit lumpy but then I've got very large boobs (gg) and I'm very overweight so I keep putting it down to being fatty tissue, loose skin etc.

But I just don't know. Petrified to go to the Dr

  • Hi Mamaof4

It could be nothing, however you are obviously worried enough to join an online cancer chat forum. There is no need to be scared to see your GP, I think people believe if they don't see a GP then it goes away, I'm afraid it doesn't work like that. I would rather have someone look at it than have it worrying me, so for your own peace of mind, go see your GP.

  • Thank you.

I called them yesterday and they had me in and examined me and I've been put on the 2 week suspected cancer pathway

  • Really glad you went to see your GP and being sent to see breast specialists - hope everything goes well.

    Hi Mamaof4,

Welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry to hear of your symptoms. I am glad to hear that you are now waiting for an appointment at the breast clinic. Just a few words of hope though, these clinics only diagnose 1 case of breast cancer in every 8 people they see, so your chances are still good. You will find the staff at the clinic all very pleasant and, they will do their best to set you at ease.

Do please keep us udated on your progress. You are unlikely to get a diagnosis at your first appointment. You will probably have some simple tests and, will then have to wait for 1-2 weeks for the results. This is always an anxious time, but try to keep yourself busy to distract yourself from the wait. We are always here for you.

    Fingers crossed for good news.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
