Cervical Cancer Symtoms - Colposcopy tomorrow

Hi

 

I had a baby 1 year ago and for the first few months I was bleeding on and off, obviously quite normal due to hormones until I thought it looked like it was in my urine too. I had 5 visits to GP over the course of the first 6 months and suddenly the bleeding stopped (GP just checked for urine infection but all came back clear). 

 

Then since around April this year iv been spotting between my periods, so much so I don't know when my actual periods should be anymore, I wasn't overally concerned until I started to bleed after sex in July, I visited GP and arranged for swobs and bloods to be done and all came back clear today, the nurse was really concerned by my symptoms and how long they had gone on for and arranged a fast tracked Colposcopy to be done (which is tomorrow). 

 

Since having my baby I have also had really back lower back pain and pelvic pain which I never saw as a potential symptom as I'd just had my second baby. 

 

I'm absolutely petrified of getting bad news, I keep crying at just the thought of leaving my babies behind without a mummy. 

 

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

    Sorry to hear that you are so worried.  I can imagine how you are feeling though as I too had to have a colposcopy quite a few years back and instantly thought I had cervical cancer.  Have you had a recent smear at all?  If so, at least that is something.  I am sure the nurse did not mean to panic you but is just wanting to be thorough but I would think exactly the same as you.

     

    Hopefully you can get some sleep tonight and it will be over and done with before you know it.  And, crucially, they will monitor you closely for quite a few years after this, in case of changes.

    Yes, I am up to date with all my smears and the last one I had was 2 years ago which came back fine. Hopefully I'm just overthinking things but its so hard not to x

    Hi all, 

     

    Just an update. Went for my Colposcopy today and she said everything looks normal, I will be sent for an ultrasound on my reproductive system but she thinks that will be normal too and the systems iv described sounds like it's an hormonal issue.

    That's great and what a relief for you!  Let us know how you get on with the USS but I am pretty sure that by the sound of it, that will be be OK too x
