[24 male] Can I rule out Myeloma?

I have had a clear SPEP test and no Bence Jones proteins detected in my urine (spot collection not 24h). GP has said we can now rule out MM but should I still be worried about my back, rib, and neck pain? Are the chances of non-secretory MM that slim (I know this is about 1-3% of MM cases)? Should I consult a specialist for my pain + neuropathy? Or do I simply have health anxiety over this?

All creatinine, liver, immunoglobulin, SPEP and BJP are clear. BJP test definitively states "no evidence of Myeloma".

Thanks all, best of luck to everyone, also.

  • Hello again. You really need some help for your hypochondria and anxiety as you cannot go on living your life in this way. You have had so many tests and investigations which show nothing untoward so why do you think that anybody here can give you any diagnosis. I really think that you need to stay away from cancer forums and stop googling every symptom.

    Besf of luck.

    Lynne.

  • Thank you Lynne,

If I'm honest I keep moving onto the next thing after next thing. I'm now concerned as my blood viscocity was slightly high, and my IgM was in-range but high, that I now have Waldenstrom's lymphoma.

When do I stop getting checked for these things and stop? I still feel really awful, health-wise.

  • It seems you would now be at the point where you seriously need help with your health anxiety. Looking at your past posts, you have diagnosed yourself with late stage colon/bowel cancer, possible brain mets, and much more. Yet every single test you’ve had has been clear. Even when a test states definitively “no evidence of myeloma” you can’t seem to accept it and look for another cancer to explain your symptoms.

Have you considered that maybe you simply simply don’t have cancer?

You have a multitude of apparent symptoms but tests are continuing to rule out cancer as the cause. Is there any test you would be able to believe if you cannot accept tests and results which are all clear?

Cancer forums will only serve to fuel your anxiety, which can exacerbate many of the sypmtoms you are describing. You should stop using google to self diagnose yourself and look for diseases and ask your doctor for help with your severe anxiety. Some of us would be delighted to have repeated clear test results!

No-one here can diagnose you and you will simply go round in circles, your anxiety increasing. I’m surprised your parents are not helping you with this as they must be able to see you have an issue.

  • Hi worriedanon7,

You wrote this: "my blood viscocity was slightly high, and my IgM was in-range but high".

First, please note than "in-range" means "all good", and you don't need to consider it further, even at the top or bottom of the range.

Also, when a healthy person has a lot of tests, there are often one or two that are slightly high or low, and there's no need to worry about that. If you test the same person twice in a row, you will also get small variations in the results.

I see from my own blood tests that my red blood cell count is slightly low. Maybe last week I ate foods that contain less iron, or something minor. No-one regards that test result as requiring investigation.

Please try to find something positive and enjoyable to do with your time, instead of dreaming up things to worry about.

    Enjoy life!
