I totally understand your terror having just been referred for the same today!  I went to the GP as I had a terrible pain in my groin, which had got worse since yesterday, so I had to virtually insist on being seen (the GP wanted me to "wait and see if it settled down").  She told me to come back and get my bloods taken but there are no appointments till Friday so this has only heightened my stress levels!

I am being referred for a colposcopy also as she advised my cervix appeared "abnormal" so I also have that to worry about but I am slightly reassured that my smears are up-to-date and the last one (taken earlier this year) was normal.  To further compound the misery, I am a nurse so a little knowledge is dangerous...

Hi there, I went through a referral for suspected ovarian cancer.  Hopefully your results will be fine, but remember that  CA125 can be high for lots of reasons and ultrasound can show up all sorts, so if some test results aren't perfect try not to suspect the worst.  The ultrasound and blood tests are quite easy tests  x

Thank you for your encouraging words - I think when you are left alone with your own thoughts, it can get very dark. Fear is the worst part - just not knowing. 

I think it has been harder as all my GP calls have been over the phone - again makes you feel very isolated. 

I also think I need to stop using "Dr Google" - I always pick up only the worst case scenarios

I hope you also get your results back quickly - please also feel free to chat / moan back

I went through this precovid and although it was supposed to be a 2 week wait,  it was longer because of Qs, and the waiting is hard.  As they told me, they refer so many  more people than they used to now to try and make sure they don't miss anything, and ultrasound is so much more available nowadays.

Well, I've had a bit of a development...  Had to go to OOH at 0310 this morning as the pain in my groin was agony.  I saw a lovely GP who suspected it was either an ovarian cyst or a kidney stone and contacted gynae for me.  They were involved in an emergency on the labour ward so asked me to come back at 1130 for an USS.  The GP gave me Naproxen and Codeine and told me to go home and to try and sleep.  No chance!  Had about 90mins because of the pain but hey ho.  I went back at 1130 but was told my USS wouldn't be until 1510 so I had to hang about, in bleeping agony.  Anyway, my USS was done by a lovely lady and I became really emotional, explaining about the pain, worry, lack of sleep etc.  She was so nice, understanding and (this is the crucial bit!) advised that LOTS of women are referred unnecessarily for an USS, with or without raised CA125 levels.  She says she sees a large number who are scared whitless after seeing their GP and the main thing to remember is that Ovarian Ca is still extremely rare!

So, to sum up, the upside to my experience is that 1) I got my USS a lot sooner than expected, 2) I know I don't have Ovarian Ca, 3) my cervix is "normal" - I just have excess discharge/query infection so have been given OABX, and 4) I've had the bloods taken that I couldn't get till Friday so all-in-all, it was kind of worth all the pain overnight.

i am worried sick too, I got a phone call from my doctor today to say she had a report back from a scan I had 2 weeks ago, and that the cyst on my ovary doesn't look like endometriosis like they thought, or it's changed over time, anyway I've had cysts for years and endless scans without anything being brought up until now, so I've been referred for an urgent MRI & blood tests. Just so worried I'm 25 x

Sorry to hear this and I can understand why you are worried.  One thing to bear in mind though is that if you've had scans before, IF (and it's s big if!) there is anything suspicious it will be at a very early stage as the docs will be able to compare the reports. 

I really hope you get some answers soon and that there's nothing to worry about but, as others have said, try and stay off of Google...  I had myself self-diagnosed last night and was racing way, way ahead.
