Hello,
I just wanted to ask for some advice. I'm 24 years old, I had an appt with the breast clinic about 6 weeks ago where it was confirmed I had a lump in my left breast (Doctor examined both sides and only felt a lump in the left). Went back the next week and they found a 7.9cm tumour which they said they thought was a fibroadenoma or possibly a phyllodes tumour. They took a biopsy but unfortunately the sample wasn't good enough and I had to have it repeated. I went back last week, this time they scanned both breasts and they found 2 tumours in the right side (2.2cm and 3.3 cm) and they also found a further tumour in the left which wasn't there on the previous ultrasound.
My mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer very recently, triple negative in one breast and a hormonal cancer in the other breast, she has also spoken to a geneticist and has had blood tests to test for the BRCA1 and 2 gene mutations and the PALB2 mutation due to a strong FH of breast cancer on the maternal side.
The discovery of these other tumours has really shook me, I know its possible the right sided lumps may have been there all along but just not palpable but I literally had an ultrasound scan on the left breast only 3 weeks before and this second tumour was not there. Can something benign have grown that quickly? I personally don't see how this can be the case but I don't know much about this and just wanted some advice, I am preparing myself though because I'm not sure what else I should do.
Thanks for any help,
Becca
