Biopsy bruising

I had my breast biopsy for calcifications on Thursday afternoon, it was not pleasant.  The first biopsy sample was xrayed and didn't contain calcification so they realigned the needle and tried again. Second biopsy missed too so they had a third attempt and thankfully succeeded.  But as a result I am so bruised, swollen and sore.  I was expecting a bit of discomfort but this is awful.  It hurts to wear a bra and hurst more to not wear one.  Does anybody have any advice?

Also in my post biopsy confusion I cannot remember when the paper stitches have to come off and I don't have a number for the breast clinic.  Does anybody know how long to leave them on?

  • Hiya,

My Mum had a biopsy done about two weeks ago. She is black and blue and two weeks later, still in quite a bit of discomfort. She too is finding it uncomfortable to wear a bra, and so has been wearing soft sports bra's. These seemed to have been a big help to her.

Regarding the paper stitches, I seem to remember her saying that she was told to soak them off gradually after a few days and that after showering they would begin to roll off.
Don't quote me on that though lol

I hope this has been of some help to you, and I'm sure someone else will be along shortly with further advice xx
