Me again

Hi all, hope you are all feeling OK. Still waiting for results but just have a query. For some time I've been suffering from lower back pain and lower abdomen pain not severe but enough to be using volterol gel and paracetamol just realized been taking more than usual. I am 48 probably beginning menapuase and have a really physical job also with the extra stress and anxiety I have been putting it down to that as I have just gone back to work from furlough. Just wondered if I do get a call back is it worth mentioning or is it as I feel unrelated thanks in advance take care all and stay safe xx ps biopsy is suspected melanoma

  • Hi - did I read somewhere it was a skin biopsy you were waiting on result.

I got really stressed waiting for mine and ended up telephoning GP who checked hospital system and gave me my result same day. I never got a letter or a call from the hospital though - my result was dysplasia (between benign and cancer but not cancer). I told the doctor I was especially anxious because I was getting night sweats and once he told me my biopsy result I thanked the GP for getting back to me so quickly and said that it made me feel happier that the night sweats were just menopause - I've got almost a decade on you in years so really ought to be getting a menopause by now! That's a bit of an indirect reply. Hope it helps xx

Oh and I never did get a call from the hospital. Don't think I would have done. When I telephoned dermatology they said I would hear from GP not hospital. Systems seem to vary a lot around the country.

  • Your symptoms will probably be unconnected but it's still worth mentioning when they contact you with your results. If the results are positive for melanoma they may then consider a scan, however if your results are clear they will advise you back to your GP with your new symptoms. Good luck & I hope you aren't waiting too much longer for your results,

    Angie (melanoma patient)

  • Hi all, thanks for replies hopefully won't have too much longer to wait now and am actually feeling remarkably calm at the moment, hope it lasts. As I said I am back at work now so I think that is really helping but probably contributing to tha aches and pains as I'm using muscles that haven't been used as much in four months. Thanks again for the advice take care and stay safe xxx
