Worried about my mum

My mum has bern recently hospitalised with a uti. She was really sick and delirious. She's 80 years old. She's bern having persisting symptoms of twinges and pain in her lower abdomen and groin and painful legs. The doctor says the pain in the groin and legs are due to her arthritis. 2 urine tests came bsck contaminated. But showing traces of blood and pus. A third sample has been taken and we have rung for results but they've gone straight to urology. She has been told today she has an appointment in 2 weeks ( saw the go 2 dars ago) in the hospital for a magic eye and ultrasound of the bladder. She has to totally self isolate again. She is so depressed and worried and now I am too.. Is it a bad sign that they're seeing her do fast esp in these covid times? Could it be cancer? I'm worried sick! Any advice please??

  • Hello LouLou36

I'm sorry to hear that your Mum has been in hospital recently. It's understandable that you're feeling worried about what the results of her most recent tests may be.

Try not to read too much into how quickly an appointment comes through. Hospitals are adapting to new ways of working and despite Covid19, many patients are being seen in relatively hosrt time frames.
Hopefully her appointment in 2 weeks will bring more answers about what is going on for her and the Consultant will be able to answer your questions.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
