Was anyone told their breast ultrasound highly suspicious

What did the the person doing the ultrasound tells you . And how many samples were taken

  • Hi Stark89,

I had a breast ultrasound on 16th July which was very suspicious, Dr took 3 biopsies from breast and put in a titanium marker in case they had to go back in again.  I had my biopsy results yesterday, they were benign but because of suspicious ultrasound they are sending me for a vacuum assisted biopsy just to take more tissue to check.  On the whole though it is still positive news that everything so far has been benign.  It's not necessarily bad news, what were you told when they did the biopsy?

  • I was told it didnt look like how cancer looks . I got a letter from the hospital yesterday saying the lump was 4cm well defined but had echogenic  shadows so now I am more worried. I wish they would have wrote the letter so I understand it .

  • Hi,

I didn't receive any letter from hospital except the one with my appointment with consultant.  Dr who did my ultrasound said mine wasn't presenting as a normal cancer lump either but was more like branching out through the breast.  Consultant yesterday told me she suspects breast papilloma, I don't know what that is but she wants it out whatever it is.  Sorry I don't know anything about echogenic shadows, could you maybe contact one of the breast nurses to go through the letter with you?  Did you have biopsies taken?

  • Hi,

after memogram, scan and biopsy I was sent to see consoltant, who went trou memogram as said she felt that the colour and Shape of lump on the scan were worrying, showing me which parts on the memogram. She was so confedant in  her explication. I knew it would be bad news when I returned a week latter for biopsy results.

  • Yes had biopsies taken 2 of them  The letter was what happened at the appointment . Saying they will tell me the results when they get them back . Shocking how long they make you wait . I cant seem to get a full night sleep .

  • Yes the waiting is horrendous, the 13 days I had to wait were a nightmare, especially because had been told to prepare for bad news. Don't think I slept more than a couple of hours a night for that time but it was relatively good news although there's more checking to be done. Just try and do anything you can to keep your mind occupied, and try to stay positive.

  • I got my biopsy  results today it was a fibroadenoma but they will ring me on Monday to talk about removing it . Thanks to everyone I talk to.
