Results over the phone

Hi,

I received a text confirmation from the hospital for a telephone appointment as I recently had a MRI scan. I’ve since received a letter also confirming the appointment and it states ‘to review and discuss your condition’. I’m obviously thinking the worse and to prepare myself. I called the ENT secretary to ask (I know they can’t give results out) if bad news was given over the phone and all she could say is that all results will be given by the consultant.

I think I’ve just answered my own question but just wondered if anyone else had been given news this way  (I understand covid plays a part in disrupting the usual way of doing things).

Thanks for reading.

  • Hello CC22

You're right in saying that Covid19 has changed the way things are done. Prior to lockdown we would rarely have members post here about having phone consultations but the NHS has had to adapt and telephone consultations have become the new normal in many areas.

I wouldn't read too much into the wording of your letter. They tend to be fairly standard template letters.

I hope that the Consultant is able to offer you some reassuring news when you speak to them. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
