Endometrial Biopsy Results

Hi,

I had a laparoscopy (keyhole surgery) last week, 23rd July 2020, for suspected endometriosis. There was nothing found during the surgery but the surgeon took an endometrial biopsy for testing. I'm currently awaiting the results.

Would someone be able to provide me with a little more information on what it can show? Is cancer possible? I'm only 22 years old and very scared/disheartened by the problems I've had the past couple of years.

How long do results take to come back? On my discharge letter from the hospital it says my suregon will be back in contact with the histology results.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Kelsey x

*UPDATE: I got the stitches removed as they were poking through and preventing healing. I'm now 3 weeks since surgery and stil haven't received my histology results. I'm getting very frantic about them to the point where I feel sick from worrying.**

  • Hello Kelsey
I'm sorry to hear that you've been having some health problems for a while now. It sounds positive that the Consultant is trying to get to the bottom of what's causing your symptoms.

It might give you some reassurance to know that most women diagnosed with womb cancer have had their menopause. And almost three quarters of cases of womb cancer are in women aged 40 to 74. Just over 1 in 100 cases (1%) are diagnosed in women under 40.

It's natural to be worried whilst waiting for biopsy results and I do hope that you don't have to wait too long to hear from the Consultant.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jenn

Thank you for your reply and for the reassurance about womb cancer. For the past couple of years I've been really panicked about the situation incase the worst is yet to come. I've gone through most of it alone but still have some slight hope it ain't nothing sinister.

How long would you expect the wait for the biopsy results to take? I can't entirely remember whether the consultant told me

    Thanks,

    Kelsey

  • Hi KelseyL,

I'm currently going through the same situation as you,

I'm also waiting on results I had the procedure on Wednesday 26th July 2020, my consultant said the results can take 2 or 3 weeks to come back.

I've also got to have a polyp removal under general anesthetic that also should be in around 2 to 3 weeks.

I'm the same as you really nervous. Take care and keep us updated with results xx

    Emma xx

  • Hi Emzie003!

I hope your procedure went well and you're recovering! Thanks for letting me know about the result times your consultant mentioned to you - I presume all waiting times are similar.

Fingers crossed for you during your polyp removal. I'll keep this thread updated. Thank you and all the best to you too!  ️ xx

  • Thank you huni,

I won't lie it hurt alot, but I hope all goes well with you as well, it is a worrying time for everybody though,

I was due to have the biopsy done in March but due to covid it got cancelled which was understandable I'm just glad that things are moving a little bit now.

I do know how serious covid is as I've worked with it through out the pandemic as well.

Much love to everyone who is waiting on results xxx

  • You're more than welcome!

My keyhole surgery afterwards was and still is very painful. My wounds are slowly healing but having problems with stitches poking through but I put it down to me being underweight. I'm completely clueless with wounds etc.

Hopefully things will progress for you and you'll eventually have a cause for your problems!

I agree, much love to yourself and to all the other brave women awaiting results!  ️ xxx

  • They can be saw for about 8-10 weeks I have had key hole surgery twice so know how you feel.

If you need any advice just ask always happy to help xx

  • That's such a long time for recovery. Hopefully the soreness will ease before then though.

Thank you so much! Would you recommend me to go and see a nurse at my local Doctors about my stitches poking through? xx
